In Missouri, owners of dogs can be held “strictly liable” if their dog attacks you (§273.036, RSMO.). The owner of a dog in Missouri is liable for the damages caused to the victim, regardless of the former viciousness of the dog or the owner’s or possessor’s knowledge of such viciousness, if:

- The injured person was on public property or lawfully on private property; and
- The injured person did not provoke the dog to bite.
